Difference between Vanaspati Ghee and Desi Ghee
Ghee has always been an important part of the Indian diet. From improving lubrication between bones to adding healthy fats to the diet, ghee is always present in every Indian household.
However, there are a few options for consumers to choose from, and one of the most common choices of all is desi ghee and vanaspati ghee. Both products, though used for common purposes, are quite different from each other.
What is Vanaspati Ghee?

A household name for the hydrogenated vegetable oil, vanaspati is a less expensive counterpart to desi ghee. It is not made from cattle milk. Widely available in the market, vanaspati ghee looks creamier and looks like cow ghee, which often leads to people’s confusion while shopping. However, many people consider it due to its lower price tag.
What is Desi Ghee?

The pure and unadulterated cow ghee, made via a traditional process of churning buttermilk, is more commonly known as desi ghee. Desi ghee, since produced from cow’s milk, has animal fat but is devoid of synthetic fat like the vanaspati ghee.
Vanaspati Ghee Vs Desi Ghee
The primary difference between vanaspati and desi ghee is the presence of dalda. Dalda, which is present in vanaspati ghee, is hydrogenated refined oil - a trans fat while desi ghee only consists of healthy saturated fats.
